Sealed Lead Acid Batteries

The terminals of the batteries should be taped, if possible.

Place in an intact 45-gallon metal or plastic drum with plastic liner. Do not seal very tight (allow gasses to escape) Skid mount (max. of 2 drums per skid), secure drums with banding. Weigh, and mark with the battery type.

If the batteries are too large for drums, they are to be stacked on a suitable wood skid (2,000-lb. capacity) no more than two layers high. Use cardboard or plywood between each layer. If batteries are less than 8" high, they can be stacked in three layers. The skid should be wrapped in suitable plastic wrap, weighed, and marked with the battery type.

Can be shipped on common bill of lading.

If shipped on an Ontario hazardous waste manifest. The generator must be registered with The Ontario Ministry of the Environment as a hazardous waste generator.

Batteries that are shipped to The Battery Broker should be labeled as:

WASTE BATTERIES, WET, NON-SPILLABLE,
ELECTRIC STORAGE, CLASS 8,
UN 2800, PACKING GROUP III
E.R.G. # 154
