Waste Collection Programs and the Battery Broker

At the Battery Broker Environmental Services Inc., we have several options available to help you begin a waste collection program.

Sealed Cell Program

For generators of sealed cell batteries, we have a program in place that will allow for the shipment of 600 Lbs. of waste sealed cell batteries in a steel (or plastic) drum or 100 Lbs. of batteries in a blue box, depending on your requirements.

This program Includes a supply of drums (or boxes), liners, labeling, freight and the recycling of the batteries.

Please be aware.  Each drum or box for this program must contain one specific type of battery.  I.e.: Alkaline, Ni/Cad Dry, Lithium etc.

Industrial Cell Program

For generators of industrial wet (vented) batteries such as lead acid, Wet Ni/Cad, Air Depolarized Zinc etc., The Battery Broker can tailor make a program for your location.

It is important to realize that this material must be properly prepared before shipping to avoid damage to the casing and the chemicals leaking.,

Mixed Cell Program

For generators of a wide range of waste batteries, The Battery Broker has a mixed cell program in effect.

To minimize the cost of sorting batteries, we allow for the transportation of mixed Sealed Cell Batteries.

This program is similar to the Sealed Cell Program but with a sorting fee added for each mixed drum or box of batteries.

Transportation and Milk Runs

Canadian regulations currently state that generators dispose of battery waste on a timely basis (90 Days).

The Battery Broker is a licensed transporter of hazardous waste in Ontario and operates under the Ministry of Environment Certificate of Approval A841207. The Battery Broker can take care of all your Freight needs within the province of Ontario or Coast to Coast.

To help our customers reduce their transportation cost we have a Milk Run program in effect. This program allows for the receiving of waste batteries from a number of different generators on the same transport. The transport costs are thereby shared, resulting in lower freight cost for our customers but still remain in compliance with all Canadian Regulations

Battery Identification

At the Battery Broker, our staff are experts in the identification of batteries. As a part of our service to our customers can help you with any batteries that, you might have a problem identifying.

For new Customers in battery recycling we can also provide on site training on the identification of batteries as well as the proper storage, labeling and preparing of waste batteries for shipping to The Battery Broker.

Waste Generator Registration

The Battery Broker can assist you with your application to register with the Ministry of the Environment, for an Ontario Hazardous Waste Generator registration number.

What If We Are Outside Of Ontario?

Any company wishing to bring waste into Ontario for recycling / disposal is required to register each 'generating' site with the Ontario Ministry of The Environment.

This Generation Registration Report will allow your company's location(s) to release waste in Ontario.
