Mercury or Mercury containing Batteries

The Battery Broker also accepts Mercury Switches and Relays for recycling. Please contact our office for more information on recycling these items.

The terminals of the batteries should be taped, if possible.

Place in an intact 45-gallon steel drum with a plastic liner (min. .8 mm thick) skid mount (max. of 2 drums per skid) and secure with banding. Weigh and mark with the battery type.

No plastic drums, additional recycling fees will be applied to treat contaminated plastic containers.

Must be shipped on an Ontario hazardous waste manifest. The generator must be registered with The Ontario Ministry of the Environment as a hazardous waste generator.

Batteries that are shipped to The Battery Broker should be labeled as:

WASTE MERCURY, CONTAINED IN MANUFACTURED ARTICLES,
CLASS 8, UN 2809, PACKING GROUP III
E.R.G. # 172
