Magnesium Batteries
The terminals of the batteries should be taped, if possible.
Place in an intact 45-gallon metal or plastic drum with plastic liner. Do not seal very tight (allow gasses to escape) Skid mount (max. of 2 drums per skid), secure drums with banding. Weigh, and mark with the battery type.
If batteries are too large for the drum. The battery is to be skidded in one layer only and plastic warped. Mark with the weight and battery type.
Must be shipped on an Ontario hazardous waste manifest. The generator must be registered with The Ontario Ministry of the Environment as a hazardous waste generator.
Batteries that are shipped to The Battery Broker should be labeled as:
WASTE, WATER REACTIVE SUBSTANCES,
SOLID, N.O.S.*(MAGNESIUM BATTERIES)
CLASS 4.3, UN 2813, PACKING GROUP II (III)
