In the Beginning.....

In 1980, we started in battery recycling business by founding a company called The Battery Broker Co.  At this time, The Battery Broker was only involved in the recycling of lead acid batteries.

In 1988, Ron E. Bebee, owner of the Battery Broker Co., purchased the property at 11 Tupper Ave.  An extensive overhaul of the existing building and property was done to make them environmentally friendly and safe.

Some of the features that where added to the property include:
Fireproofing the ceiling of the building.
Installing an 8-inch concrete base over every inch of the property to prevent spills from contaminating the soil.
An 8-foot chain link fence was installed around the property.
A burm wall was built around the perimeter of the property.  This was done to prevent any potential spills from contaminating the soil of adjoining properties.

To this day, there has never been a spill of toxic chemicals at the Battery Broker.  A fact that we are very proud of and is possible only with the help of our excellent staff.

By 1991, due to the amount of business calls that where being received dealing with the recycling of other types of waste batteries.  The Battery Broker began an investigation into the legal, scientific, environmental and commercial requirements needed to begin accepting all types of waste batteries or recycling.

One year later, with our licenses from the Ministry of the Environment in place and a staff of expertly trained people, The Battery Broker Co. started providing a service that would Close the Loop on Battery Waste and help prevent them from going into unsecured landfill sites.  On January 2, 1996, The Battery Broker Co. was reregistered under federal law as the Battery Broker Environmental Services Incorporated.
